Ben Franklin Technology Partners
The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP/NEP) invests in and supports companies to create and retain highly paid, sustainable jobs. They are catalysts for technology-based economic growth in northeastern Pennsylvania and advance technologies that improve the human condition. Ben Franklin Technology Partners is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and is funded by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority.
BFTP/NEP works with companies on an enterprise-wide level to enhance their entire way of doing business, providing them with investments, proven technical and business expertise, college and university resources, networking opportunities, and a well-respected endorsement in the follow-on funding community. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) established the Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) Program to create innovative technologies and new entrepreneurs – utilizing the Commonwealth’s world class colleges and universities. The KIZs are geographically designated zones designed to foster innovation and create entrepreneurial opportunities by aligning the combined resources of educational institutions with public and private partnerships. The East Stroudsburg University Center for Research and Economic Development serves is the managing organization of the PMKIZ.
The benefits of being part of the KIZ program are transferable tax credits up to $100,000 per year and access to a business mentoring networks to assist start-up companies develop business plans, establish business goals and to provide opportunities for Venture Capital and Angel Funding.
Small Business Development Center
We partner with University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to provide free services for businesses at any stage of their development. SBDC provides educational programs and no cost, confidential consulting services to entrepreneurs looking to start a small business or grow an existing small business.
Wayne Economic Development Corporation
Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO) manages the Wayne County Economic Growth Fund where businesses may be awarded a grant up to $5,000 for eligible projects not related to loan application fees or up to $10,000 for the purpose of paying eligible loan fees. The grants have a private investment match and job creation requirements. The funds may be used for land and building acquisition, construction and renovation, machinery and equipment, or working capital. Projects that would have a significant economic development impact on the County may be eligible for a grant/loan combination exceeding $10,000.
Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance
Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance (WPWA) is the Community Education Council for Wayne and Pike counties as designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. WPWA creates educational opportunities for our local community and is the PA CareerLink Affiliate for Wayne County. WPWA offers workforce and training solutions for businesses and residents.
